Fe Noel's June Book of the Month: The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao

Posted on

We sat down to dish on what new reads we should dig into for our book of the month. Pulitzer Prize winning author Junot Diaz, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao, was recommended by a friend as an interesting read.  We gathered at one of Fe Noel's favorite places the Little Cupcake Bakeshop not too far from our design studio to discuss.

The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao had came back up as a favorite amongst our team. During our discussion Johanna had mentioned, “I love this book because I’m rooting for Oscar. He’s the underdog in his life and I want him to win!” Patricia said, “Junot Diaz pulls you in to learn about Oscar’s personality as a character, yet he gives you a lesson on Oscar’s culture." Join us on what Diaz would explain as a journey for love as Oscar's family's fukú -a curse- follows him from Dominican Republic to the United States and back again.

Reading does for the brain what exercise does for the body. It also helps to keep your imagination going. Until next time -Jazzy
